The Lawfield team offers expertise in general commercial and business law, property, competition and trade practices, employment and contract law, dispute analysis and resolution.

The Lawfield team has specific experience in the following areas:

  • sale and purchase of medium and small businesses, ranging from $0.5m to $12m in value;
  • provision of security and loan documentation;
  • leases and contracts for the sale and purchase of land;
  • building contracts for residential and commercial builders,
  • claims in the Building Disputes Tribunal and before Adjudicators appointed under the Construction Contracts Act, and investigations by the Builders Registration Board;
  • Investigations and enquiries by the ACCC and the cartel provisions of the Trade Practices Act;
  • claims for compensation for the compulsory acquisition of land;
  • planning appeals in the SAT, advice to agents and brokers under the real estate and business agents act;
  • reviewing and drafting employment contracts in light of the Fair Work Act, and advising on dismissal and termination of employees;
  • advising Local Government regarding land and development issues, tendering and miscellaneous other issues;
  • commissions of inquiry;
  • assessment of claims and early dispute analysis and resolution;
  • drafting of standard conditions of sale and purchase;
  • reviewing contracts for the international sale of goods and advising on incoterms, sale of goods Vienna convention, commercial bills of exchange and international financing documents;
  • standard consumer and commercial loan and security agreements and documents;

Lawfield has foreign language capability with staff fluent in Russian and competent in Italian and French.
